Rotalis-Hotels relaxation and comfort

Which features of a hotel are essentially important, and what is of particular value to our guests? Must it always be a luxury hotel or can it also be a family run hotel, which perhaps has a little more charm? We continue to ask ourselves these questions when looking for and selecting our hotels. One thing is certain: it is important to feel comfortable. And each hotel should be diverse.

A special highlight for me was residing in the Gran Hotel Domine in Bilbao. All rooms were furnished according to the designs of the Spanish star designer Javier Mariscal. The splendid breakfast buffet on the roof terrace with a view of the Guggenheim Museum is also an experience one can never forget.

But I also cherish the small family run hotels, located away from the tourist masses and the hustle and bustle of the big cities. For example on the Belle-Île-en-Mer, remotely situated in the centre of the island, there is a dream-like jewel with a typical Breton flair. There is no better place for me to relax than on the small terrace with a glass of Cidre.

I also enjoy visiting the Villa Piazzano in Cortona. The historic residence from the Renaissance period was once the hunting residence of a rich Cardinal, before it was converted into a luxury hotel. In the midst of an expansive park complex, one can relax in the rustically furnished rooms or at the lovely swimming pool.

In Ireland, I always enjoy staying at the Rosleague Manor. The Victorian manor directly at the Atlantic somehow always takes me into another exciting era. And residing in the Hotel Pointe Saint Mathieu in Finistère for four nights is a special experience. It is situated on a headland, and surrounded by the ocean in which the moon is reflected at night.

It is this successful combination which distinguishes the hotels in the Rotalis programme: Design hotels, impressive hotels, integrated into historic buildings or small hotels, in which one feels like part of the family. The hotels are primarily situated either in the city centre or in absolute tranquillity, in the midst of magnificent landscapes. One can often have a refreshing swim in the pool after a strenuous cycling day or can enjoy a drink at the hotel bar. Each day of travel is therefore concluded in a pleasant and comfortable way.
